OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking an experienced Content Manager to join our team. The Content Manager will create and manage content for three channels: blog, social media, and itineraries. The Content Manager will be responsible for launching Local Foreigner’s blog and newsletter, crafting and executing the firm’s social media strategy to build brand awareness, and creating and managing the content used for client itineraries. The Content Manager has a minimum of five years of experience in the editorial media sphere, preferably with travel-related media experience. We’re looking for a clever, creative writer with a strong voice. With a passion for travel and food, the ideal candidate has a penchant for adventure and an eye for style and design. Our Content Manager will liaise with Local Foreigner clients, industry partners and staff to create content. It is crucial this candidate is eager to take ownership over this realm, with the ability to work independently with a creative spirit for continuous growth. Our team seeks a like-minded addition who is an organized multitasker, extremely detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to excel in a fast-paced forward-thinking environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and evolve a unique, brand-right voice and aesthetic across digital platforms including blog, social media, and internal content.
- Define a cohesive social media strategy inclusive of brand-driving and sales-driving initiatives.
- Create and manage the editorial calendar for blog, newsletter, social media and internal content.
- Create, manage and post content for blog and social media, and distribute newsletter.
- Create new content and keep current our internal bank of descriptions for use in client itineraries (including destinations, hotels, restaurants, and experiences).
- Edit and proofread the content published and ensure that they adhere to our house style and contain no grammatical, stylistic, syntactic or factual errors.
- Build and drive Local Foreigner’s presence with focus on Instagram and Facebook.
- Develop a deep understanding of our customer and social audiences, and master our brand voice to convey key messages across channels.
- Interview and interact with Local Foreigner clients and network of international partners for research.
- Participate in the idea generation, strategy and project implementation to support Local Foreigner’s cautious, deliberate growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in digital journalism and social media.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Native-level English is essential.
- Experience in creating content and implementing across several digital mediums, and optimized for search engines and social media.
- A witty, bold, and sharp writing voice and strong judgment about visuals and photography.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and as a part of a team with excellent self-management and organizational skills.
- Academic excellence and a passion for travel, culture and food are important.
- Attend events as needed, both during and after traditional work hours.
- Possible travel opportunities (up to 3 trips per year).
- Skills and experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, Social media (Facebook, Instagram), Mailchimp.
- Must be able and willing to work at our New York HQ full time.
